Operating since 1989, the Australasian Animal Registry (AAR) is dedicated to supporting and protecting lost pets by helping reunite them with their owners. Backed by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) and operating as a not-for-profit, AAR reinvests into agriculture while keeping its focus on animal welfare. With records for over 4 million animals, our database is accessible only to authorised users, including councils and veterinary clinics, for recovery purposes. We’re here to help 24/7! Our recovery service operates around the clock to assist with lost animals, ensuring pets can be safely returned home.
If you are currently the listed owner of a pet on HomeSafe ID's database, you can register your pet with AAR by completing the New Registration Form and emailing it back to us at help@aar.org.au
If you reside in VIC, please attach a copy of your HomeSafeID registration certificate to accompany your request.
For further assistance, please contact us on 02 9704 1450.
The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) is passionate about agriculture—and all its creatures great and small.
The Australasian Animal Registry (AAR) is a core pillar of the RAS, operating since 1989, through which we seek to support and protect lost pets to return them to their owners.
AAR maintains records for 4 million animals, and it is growing daily. We register all animals: dogs; cats; birds; horses; reptiles; even ferrets. AAR provides an accurate and independent service designed to assist in the speedy recovery of registered animals.
AAR is accredited by Queensland Government, Australian Veterinary Association (AVA), Victorian Government, Department of Primary Industry (DPI), and the Bureau of Animal Welfare.
Only authorised users, including councils and veterinary clinics, are able to access the animal records for recovery purposes. A secure system of ID numbers and AAR staff training ensure the integrity of this process.
